The internet was thrown into a state of hullabaloo when Messi was announced the winner of this year, 2021, Ballon d’Or. While many people were happy about the outcome, most people said some players were cheated and robbed.
One of such players who was said to be cheated was Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. Many people said he was the most qualified player because he has been excellent in the pitch, and he knows his onions on the field.
Many people also argued that the Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United and captains the Portugal national team, Cristiano Ronaldo was best qualified just because he has not been doing bad at all in the pitch and with football.
Some other people argued that the French professional footballer who plays as a striker for Spanish club Real Madrid and the France national team, Karim Benzema, was the one who was robbed of 2021 Ballon D’or.
All said and done, an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and captains the Argentina national team, Lionel Andrés Messi, also known as Leo Messi is with the 7th Ballon D’or in his house.
The information made available on the internet shows that Lionel Messi has the highest vote with 613 votes followed by Robert Lewandowski with 580 votes.
Also made available is the stats of the top three Ballon d’Or 2021 contenders until end of voting.
Messi played 39 games, had 40 goals, 16 assists, 103 shots on target, 12 big chances missed, 2525 accurate passes etc, Lewandowski played 45 games, had 54 goals, 8 assists, 98 shots on target, 35 big chances missed, 715 accurate passes etc and Benzema played 50 games, had 35 goals, 14 assists, 87 shots on target, 24 big chances missed, 1589 accurate passes.
The results were announced by France Football in Paris on November 29 and Messi walked home with the award.
