The Group Managing Director of UBA Plc, Mr. Oliver Alawuba, has recently acquired an additional 9.5 million shares worth N80.37 million in the company. This information was disclosed in a notice of share dealing submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Limited and obtained by Nairametrics. The acquisition of these shares represents 0.03% of the total outstanding shares of UBA.
Following this acquisition, Alawuba’s total number of shares in UBA has increased from 1,593,248 units as of December 31, 2022, to 11,093,248 units.
The notice, signed by Bili A. Odum, Group Company Secretary/Legal Counsel, stated that on May 16th, 2023, Alawuba purchased 9,500,000 units of UBA shares at an average price of N8.46 per share, totaling N80.37 million.
As of the last trading day, Thursday, May 18, 2023, UBA’s share price on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) closed at N8.45 per share, representing a 1.7% drop from the previous closing price of N8.60. Since the beginning of the year, UBA’s share price has experienced a 11.2% increase from its initial value of N7.60.
