The apex bank of Nigeria, The Central Bank of Nigeria, has released ways to identify genuine and authentic redesigned naira notes.
The bank stated some of these distinguishing features recognizable by touch and visibility are the raised print, the security thread and the watermark.
The banks stated that:
-The raised prints can be a easily touched
-The security thread, ordinarily looks broken, but is not when held up against light.
-The security thread also has “CBN” in small lettering printed on both sides of the notes.
They advised the general public to take note and not fall victim of counterfeiters!
Please note that the current series of N200, N500 and N1000 notes remain legal tender until the deadline of January 31, 2023.
